Video F.A.Q.
Why video tape my wedding, anyway?
With living color, motion, and sound, a videotape tells the story of two people very much in love, making a permanent commitment to each other. Record all of the romance and emotions of your special day through the magic of videotape in your own video movie.
Videotapes and still photographs are very important ways to record your wedding. However, with the added elements of sound and movement, you become a spectator viewing the event as if it were happening again right before your very eyes. Emotions unfold before you in voices, words, varying facial expressions, and body movements as if you were actors in a movie. Add sparkling color to the sound and motion, and your precious memories vibrate with life. This is just the beginning!
Much as a photo album has a cover, a video recording should have titles to serve as an introduction and as a mood setter. These titles can take many forms such as graphics, animations, attractive text over live video, or a combination of all of these things. Whatever the form, it wil always compliment and enhance your video movie.
With video, you can re-live the most important day of your life over and over with just the touch of a button. You can experience the growing nervousness of the bride and groom...watch the tears of parents and relatives...hear the music and songs you never got to hear on your wedding day..see yourselves exchange the vows of love and devotion...and experience the laughter and joy as you hear the cherished words of friends, family, and loved ones.
Why should I have my wedding video taped by a professional?
There are to very important reasons: Experience and level of equipment. Ideally your videographer should be a full time working professional who has years of experience videotaping weddings and a wide range of other events. Because of this experience, he will have the skill, expertise, savvy, and creativity required to put together a polished, living record of your important day. Weddings require quick thinking and responses, and attention to detail, microphones, lighting, computer graphics, lens techniques, video editing, audio mixing, and customer relations.
A professional will use professional level equipment to ensure your production will be of the highest possible quality. When you add all of this to the time a professional will spend on each wedding in preparation (2 to 4 hours), shooting, (4 to 8 hours), and post production editing (20 to 50 hours), it becomes obvious that he will deliver results--not excuses.
Why shouldn't I just choose the lowest price and save money?
Just as when you hire a caterer, a florist, or a still photographer, a wedding video is best handled by an experienced professional. Anything less is inviting disaster.
When you consider all of the hours required in making a polished, truly professional production, you should wonder why a "professional" would be willing to work many hours using very expensive equipment, a high degree of skill and creativity for the low pay represented by an economy level price structure. The reasons will vary from cheap or home level equipment, little experience and skill, "quick and dirty" production values or a combination of all of these. Whatever the reasons, you will usually end up with a production that could be shot by Uncle Charlie. Think of what you have lost in terms of the romance and other important parts of your special day, and you will begin to understand how truly expensive "price only" shopping can be.
